A footstool fit for a (Tudor) queen

This week I finished making this small oak table/footstool. The brief from my customer was to create a chunky oak footstool with the top featuring the badge of Anne of Cleves. Here's a few pictures showing the different stages from going round the template marking out with my gouges, starting to remove some oak and fast forwarding many hours to the finished carving....

Salt Pig 2- Bigger, fatter and made of Cherry.

I've been busy making another pig shaped Salt Pig, this time bigger and made from Cherry wood which Harry Butler very kindly provided and turned to create the initial shape before I took over with my gouges to make it look like a pig. Very handy having a woodturner down the road!

Work also continues on Mr. Highwayman and his horse which should be nearing completion in the next couple of weeks. I'll also be helping Harry out on his stand at the Milland Rural Fair this coming Sunday where you can purchase some of his lovely woodturnings and a some of my 'stock' items as well. Lets just hope the sun decides to come out by then :s
