Doocot progress

There's been lots of progress on site now as you can see in the photos. The scaffolding is up and the window form is in place ready for the window stones to be built up. Now the door and window is going in the skills of the stonemasons on the course are shining through as they are working on the door and window jambs.

Last week the oak beams were ready for me to start my carving so I've now stopped laying stone for a bit to focus on getting the beams carved in time for when they need them on site. Two of the beams feature a hops design, with the other beams featuring the thistle design from the Dumfries House logo and the Princes Foundation feathers logo.

I've also come up with a thistle design which will be carved directly into the solid oak panelled front door- so plenty to keep me busy. Unbelievably we're already half way through the Live Build and there's still a hell of a lot to get done so everyone is still working flat out.

Peace's ceiling is well on it's way to being ready for painting. The design is inspired by original Scottish Renaissance designs but with a personalised twist to make it relevant to this build. All to be done in traditional casein paint.
