Carved for the Queen Elizabeth Country Park in Hampshire, it is on display in the cafe together with the owl nesting box which you can see to the right of the picture.

Spider's web and Spider
An oak spider's web with a metal frame hidden inside which holds the bell ropes out of the way at Portsmouth Cathedral belfry.

The spider is lowered to attach the bell ropes before being pulled to the top of the room to keep the ropes out of the way.

These two birds in their nest were added to the top section of the Yew tree sculpture.
Owl during the final stages of carving
The brief was to design a pair of bookends which link to both snowdrops and the Art Deco style of the room they would be kept in.
I designed the snowdrops to be carved in the round in lime with the idea being that the delicacy of the flowers contrast with the solidity of the Art Deco fan style of the oak background.
